SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
The Attitude Centre for Education (ACE) is a Cambodian NGO established in Phnom Penh on 15th February, 2009 and has officially registered with the Ministry of Interior on May 2011. The mission of ACE is to provide excellent leadership training for Cambodian youths with limited resources and thereby create a generation of leaders with concern for all Cambodians and the skills to lead and help them. ACE is running five projects and is working directly with underprivileged youths and kids from various provinces, slum community and relocation site.
It’s ACE 3rd year Anniversary!

ACE celebrated the success of its third year anniversary on February 15th! The anniversary took place in ACE Leadership Training Centre building with many guests to congratulate our accomplishments in the past three years! The anniversary went from 5:30 to 9pm with the performances of Khmer traditional dancing; singing; playing Khmer games and snack. Thank you to all our special friends for your contribution to this special event!

Celebrating former resident's wedding anniversary!

With the help from friends and families, ACE was able to celebrate a wedding anniversary for Vantha who is ACE former scholarship resident and just got married at the early of 2012. Vantha is the first ACE former resident to get married and also one of the residents to obtain a position at Australian Centre for Education, which is one of Cambodia’s leading English language school! Also, ACE believes in empowering girls and young women as they have a huge impact on their family, community and Cambodia! On the international women’s right day, all the girls at ACE were each gifted with a rose to build the friendship, encouraging women to be stronger and becoming the leaders in the society. Weekly leadership classs at ladership training centre!

Every Thursday 9:30-11pm the leadership class is conducted by Mr. Sokchea at the centre. The lessons are updated every month, in the first quarter of 2012, the topics were; what does love mean to the youths? Debating on whether ACE is a place to build the potential leaders in Cambodia? Introduction to presentation. The residents are curious to study and they are looking forward to other new lessons every Thursday night!

The girls free talk club and English class!
|
The girl free talk club was established for all the female residents reducing their stresses by discussing freely about their health, personal problems. Meanwhile, the English classes are provided every Monday and Tuesday. The grammar class is held on every Monday 9:30-11pm by Phary, one of the ACE scholarship residents and the pronunciation class is provided by Jack, a Sociology professor from Holland.

ACE's residnets and leadership skill!

Three senior ACE scholarship residents; Synoeun, Raksmey and Chakrya were invited to conduct Life Skill training to eight students at Happy School, a project of CBF! This has proven the success of our leadership training which have been provided to the ACE! ACE residents were excited to have a chance to conduct the training at Happy School where they could also share their experience to the students there. The topics that provided at the school were: Self knowing, Life plan, Build self confident, Time management, Smart goal, Change your habit, change your life, How to become a successful person?

First generation of team leader at Sing-Cam centre and Wat Tham Slum!

Sing-Cam Centre staffs organized a competition to select the first generation of team leader at the centre! There were more than 20 students participated in the competition including group discussion, leadership skill and team work. Three qualified outstanding youths were selected as the winners; Rathana, Thear and Davry! The team leader program has proven to be one of the most effective programs at ACE in developing the community centre. In this program, team leaders are selected from the community, they are being trained to get involved and serve their own community. ACE believes in empowering the youths in the community as they have an enormous positive impact on their family and community!

The Rotaract club's mission to Kandal province!

Nine ACE residents also known as the Rotaractor from the Roaract club of Phnom Penh Metro and six students from Chamcardong University went to Kandal province on a Rotaract mission. The Rotaract missions were to conduct the training to 25 villagers in Keinsvaiy village in Kandal province on agriculture in Cambodia; animal husbandry, how to make fertilizer, pesticide. The villagers were excited as it was the first time for them to get such training from the youths. The youths also played some games and donated some school materials to 75 students there. Thanks to the Rotary Club of Phnom Penh Metro for sponsoring the Rotaract club for this special mission!

Health coordinator in action!

Brembrey, who is ACE resident ACE health coordinator conducted health lessons at least once a week to all the ACE centres on: how to prevent from getting diarrhea, how to prevent from getting injury, fever, using the correct medication, wound management, skin infection, food poisoning. Also, there were 350 students at Sing-Cam and Rudi Boa Centres who received toothbrushes and toothpaste and 51 children were taken to Cambodia World Family Dental Clinicto have their teeth checked, and 335 students received de-worming medicine. Thanks Brembrey for keeping our residents and students healthy!

Basic life support training!
|
Basic Life Support training was conducted by Tahila, a volunteer nurse from Australia at ACE with 16 staffs and team leaders joining the training! This training is done once every three months to review and ensure that all the staffs and team leaders understand and know the basic strategies to save lives especially when they’re working on the ground. Thanks to Tahila for your training!

Cooperating with the student's parents!

Sing-Cam Centre students’ parents were invited to celebrate the parent meeting which was held at the centre. The purpose of the event are to motivate the parents to get more involved with their kids’ studying, to be acquainted with their kids improvement at school, to be familiar with child protection and affect of domestic violent in the family, to improve a bond between parents and the Centre. And most importantly, the event is to encourage more parents in the community to enroll their children to study at the centre.

Our green gardening!

In February a vegetables garden was established behind the classrooms at Rudi Boa Centre! Every day student water and watch their vegetables grow. This program has been of interested to the staffs and the students and it has motivated students to grow vegetables around their houses, to learn how to value nature and the environment.

Weekend training program!
|
From January through March, ACE organized 10 training local and international training; Human Resource Management, Administration, Classroom Management Methodologies, Cambodian Taxation and Cambodian Labor Law. During these three months, there were 240 participants from many organizations, companies and government agencies. What's more, the participants came from Phnom Penh and also travelled from Siem Reap, Sihaknoukville, Preah Vihea and Kep provinces to join the training!

The visit from UWCSEA students!

ACE residents and staffs successfully hosted fourteen students from UWCSEA Singapore to visit the Rudi Boa Centre and the Peace II community. The students led the kids painting pictures and painting on T-shirts that they donated to the centre. The students also donated many books and clothes to the centre. Thank you so much to UWCSEA and BABC for bringing the students from UWCSEA visiting Rudi Boa Centre!

Rotary club donation to ACE!
|
Eighteen Rotarians from eight Rotary clubs in Korea and Rotary club of Phnom Penh Metro visited Sing-Cam Centre! The Rotarians visited the centre and also the Wat Than slum community to see the living condition of our underprivileged students and their families who have been living in the slum for more than a decade. The Rotarians also gave gifts to ACE. The gifts were packed by ACE residents and were distributed to Sing-Cam Centre and Rudi Boa students as well as all ACE staffs for the Khmer New Year gifts! Each student received a pencil, eraser, book, a pack of noodle, cloth and one towel. Each staff and team leader received two towels, 2 packs of noodles, book. Thanks so much to all the Rotary clubs for your generous donation!

The pads were divided into three projects; four boxes for the Leadership Training Centre, two boxes for Sing-Cam Centre, and the other two boxes for the Rudi Boa Centre. Rotarians and the PET training Battambong province!

Ms SON Sophea, a program manager of ACE has become an elected treasurer of the Rotary Club of Phnom Penh Metro in 2011! Since then she gets involved more helping many underprivileged people in Cambodia. In March this year, Sophea and other 4 ACE residents who are also known as the Rotaractor of the Rotaract club of Phnom Penh Metro spent two days at Battambong province—joining the Pet training with other members from five Rotary clubs in Cambodia. The training was provided by the district 3350, Thailand.
